Whether it's a birthday invitation, a holiday greeting card, or a birth announcement the only person I trust to make our photo cards is Kristen, owner of Pink Lilly Blue Designs. As I've mentioned before, Kristen created the Bee Bops & Lollipops logo. She has a great eye and incredible talent. She also created our son Levi's birthday invitation this year. I realize that summer doesn't officially begin for another several weeks, however, I like to think of Memorial Day weekend as the ringing in of the summer season! In our household we eagerly await the long sunny summer days. Those days that start with the sun beaming through every window and that end not a moment before the sun sets. Gwen, celebrating in style this weekend, has been sunkissed! We're working tirelessly to add more color and fun to Bee Bops & Lollipops. We're excited to add some fun new hair accessories. What an honor! With well over 600 yards of tulle I completed our first wedding! At the bride's request we used sweet olive green satin for the waistband leaving two 2 inch streamers of matching ribbon just under a beautiful clustered silk hydrangea flower. Layed on white tulle, the look was stunning. Even more stunning, the 6 princesses fluttering down the aisle and then later on the dancefloor. What a joy! Here's a sneak peek of our wedding tutus. They are not yet up for sale on our site because the changes are still in the works. On a whim I met (and fell in love with) Heather of Heather Lynn Photographie. She is a true artist. She tracked me down insisting that we get creative with the BB&L tutu photos. For the last several weeks Heather has been taking every opportunity to shoot our tutus! What fun. Heather and I are currently working on Bee Bops & Lollipops' FIRST CATALOG! My heart is soaring. Heather sees my vision and her spirit and energy match mine! We have had so much fun playing and shooting photos together. I am very passionate about Heather’s work! When I started dreaming of Bee Bops & Lollipops I had visions as to how the boutique would look and feel. So many of my friends helped me iron out the endless details. I remember spending hours on the phone brainstorming with Leandrea (and even her computer savvy husband Brian). So many of my favorite people (you all know who you are) would sit and listen to my ramblings. The ideas were in a constant crazy swirl in my head! I envisioned the sweet soft colors and the BB&L image itself, which of course had to start at a logo. Unfortunately I was having a terrible time executing my ideas, after all, the only person that could see inside my swirling head was ME. And then I called on Kristen! My dear friend Kristen was also in the early stages of creating a business, Pink Lilly Blue. I knew that if anyone could see my vision it would be Kristen. She has an uncanny eye for all things pretty. She knows my taste & can capture my thoughts and lay them out on paper. Within hours of speaking with her, Kristen had created my logo! Once the logo was done, the rest was history. If you go check out Pink Lilly Blue, you’ll see that Kristen has amazing talent as she is using her eye for graphic design to create a sweet greeting card shop. Hello friends! I'm tickled pink to be posting the first blog entry at Bee Bops & Lollipops. Let me show you a little snippet of us. If you've scanned our boutique you may have found that I am a stay-home mommy of three darlings and adoring wife to Jacob. After nearly six years of being a full-fledged mommy at home I decided it was time to get creative.
I've always loved fashion and when I became a mommy for the first time with our oldest, Zachariah, I found that my love for fashion naturally spilled over into a love for children's fashion. I would often scour (and frequently shop) nearly every children's boutique known to man. When I would find a new adored boutique I took it on as my duty to share the news (& the love) with every hip mama I knew. I was always looking for that hard to find nugget that was especially unique, whether it be a funky skate lid or the perfect rain boots. Because, come on, we've all heard it. . . .girls are so much more fun to shop for than boys, because how creative can you get with jeans and t-shirts? . . . . I beg to differ! I insist that boys' fashion can be just as fun as shopping for a little fashionista!
After 3 wonderful years with the boys, Zachariah & Levi, our princess Gwen arrived and took our household by storm. We all wonder if she was born believing that she is a true princess. So after years of shopping boutiques for our boys I was finally at the place in my life where I could buy something girly. And yikes was it fun!!! Also, having our Gwen gave me the perfect opportunity to 'get creative'. I decided to roll up my sleeves and get to work myself on the perfect tutu. After all, what was a princess without a tutu? Several days of tulle toiling produced my first, very sad, tutu. I remember quietly tucking it away into Gwen's toy chest knowing that someday I would, without a doubt, stuff it into the trash. That poor, sad tutu. I would, however, NOT be defeated by tulle. As of today, several months have passed and several hundred rolls of tulle have slid across my worktable. I have just completed (with over 600 yards of tulle) my first wedding. I never would have thought.
So, back to BB&L, I'm sure you can draw the conclusions yourself! I simply had to create my own boutique with all my favorite things. My heart is first and foremost with my children, I have always found profound joy in being a stay-home mama. . .but I also feel very strongly about defining myself as something other than a full-time mommy. So, why not create a business from a hobby? This is going to be a fun ride and I want nothing more than to have all those whom I know and love to be a part of it. And I'm itching to meet all kinds of fabulous mommies! After only a few short months in business I've been blessed with so many new friends! I'm very excited to see what becomes of my little hobby turned business.
