That insatiable hunger for all things girly spawned and cultivated my pint-sized dream that, before Gwen, I didn’t know I had; opening a children’s boutique!  Though my insistence on making this happen was perhaps reckless and over-the-top at times I did indeed stay grounded with much thanks to my husband. He has been, in fact, the brains and the muscle behind the business as I embodied the emotion {and lots of it} and the style, immersing myself in the personal relationships and the passion while building a brand and pulling together my little dream; Bee Bops & Lollipops {children’s boutique}.


Launching our website in 2007 I waited with bated breath certain that I would be overwhelmed with orders.  Little did I know that Bee Bops & Lollipops was simply a mere speck of sand at the bottom of the ocean amongst an entire sea of swirling sand, each tiny speck slowly making it’s way up that infamous search engine ladder.  Orders didn’t come immediately, but they finally came. And with each order I did a toe-tingling happy dance that I would often insist my entire family join {if you know us, you know that when we dance, we dance as a family}.


Just as online business became steady, happy coincidental {though not coincidental at all} opportunities began to pop up and friendships began to take shape. I soon met Allison {whom I now consider a dear and monumental friend}, owner and PASSION behind the eclectic and downright dreamy shop, Inside Out in Snohomish.  Allison was a mogul of sorts, to me, that is. Everything she does, she does LARGE and with such immense passion that you would shiver in her ferocity! She naturally stepped into a mentorship role in my life when she invited Bee Bops to open a mini-boutique within her shop.  I learned so much about business and the passion for business from Allison as she helped me guide Bee Bops in the direction for success.  After a year of presence at Inside Out in downtown Snohomish, Allison encouraged me to be on my way {with so much love, of course} and to open my own space.  Thus, the dream of Bee Bops & Lollipops on First Street began to take shape.


As if in a candy store choosing my perfect cut of fudge, I rolled my fingers down every building on First Street.  I’d often press my nose against the windows of empty spaces asking my sweet Lord to open the doors, to bridge the way, to seal the deal on THE space that would be Bee Bops.  And.  He did.  That space that we finally called our own wasn’t ‘THE’ space {just yet} but it was MY space to transform.  I’ll never forget, the day I clenched the keys to MY building.  The one that I intended to transform into a representation of fabulous {yikes, my husband cringes the moment “fabulous” leaves my lips}. . .that day happened to be our 10th anniversary.  Celebrating 10 years of marriage and 1 day of new life. I grin at the thought.  Just as I was clenching those freshly cut keys, my eyelashes were gripping my cheeks holding back tears of joy.  I was about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime.


As I pen this note I wonder how nearly three years have passed since the opening of Bee Bops on First Street. I still squeal when I step foot into the sweet space of pristinely sharp striped black & grey lines, shivering bright colors, and thoughtfully placed shadowboxes.  My husband transformed my space into something dreamy.  And he did so with ease balancing my slight panic of new adventure with sheer and uninhibited solidarity {whether I liked it or not}.  He was the powerhouse behind my passion.  For that, I am so thankful.  With paint on the walls and fixtures about, merchandise taking over and friends & love to fill the space, Bee Bops & Lollipops BRICK & MORTAR was BORN!


From conception Bee Bops & Lollipops now celebrates six years of business, three years in this space I love so dearly. And now, I make my thoughtful exit.  Six precious years of pure enjoyment. Six thrilling years of doing exactly what I wanted to do with uninhibited support from those who love me.  Six crazy years of tears and laughter.  Six thoughtful years of relationship and character building.  Six emotional years building a dream while navigating failures and successes.  These have been SIX of the best years of my life.  And now I close the book simply to start another. I thank God for all the doors He has opened along the way and I thank Him for showing me when it’s time to hang my hat. I am MOMMY to three precious babes.  Not only do these darlings inspire my life, but they build my character and strengthen my soul.  And, my babes need me.  So I hang my hat with pride.  I wouldn’t change a moment.  The relationships I’ve built and the knowledge I’ve gained is immeasurable.  The words “Thank You” seem so diminutive when they leave my lips.  But, with humility I say THANK YOU to all of you, customers and friends. THANK YOU for being a part of my adventure.  THANK YOU.


Bee Bops & Lollipops is getting a fresh face!  We are positively giddy to introduce to you the new owners Nancy & Bill Keith!  Very much involved in the community and long time Snohomish locals, Nancy & Bill are diving in head first as the new passion and spunk behind Bee Bops & Lollipops.  With a love for the town and a love for the people, Nancy and Bill are a perfect fit!  Yes, you heard it, Bee Bops & Lollipops isn’t going anywhere.  The shop {both online & on First Street} are here stay and will continue offering the most fun children’s gifts & fashion. . .PLUS so much more!  And not to worry, TraLa Studios {by Heather Lynn Photographie} is still very much a part of Bee Bops & Lollipops! As much as I’m DYING to share the exciting news of what you’ll be expecting with the change, I’ll let Nancy dish the fantastic details  {pssssst. . .they’re REALLY COOL!!!!}.  We’re very excited for all of you, our favorite customers, to come down and see for yourself.  Again, it’s with so much excitement that we share this news. I will celebrate as Bee Bops soars to new heights, conquers new frontiers, and celebrates new successes, yet, from a new persepctive.  Please continue to show the strong support that you always have as Bee Bops transitions into new ownership.  Stay tuned for all the FUN details as they unfold! 

Lastly, I must make light of the fact that yes I’m sharing this news on April 1st. . .kind of a riot.  Don’t be fooled.  This is indeed all spoken truth!

As you know we at Bee Bops & Lollipops are HUGE fans of supporting our local businesses & artists!  Much of what we carry in the shop is conceptualized and/or created by those closest to 'home'.  Be it hand-painted onesies or knit hats created by the 'mom-preneur' across town. . .or major thriving companies {ie, Knuckleheads & Hula Mula nestled right here in Washington state}, we take so much pride in supporting our local economy.  
 
One of our favorite artists, Nicole Dinardo, creator of & power-house behind Un Amore Custom Designs has taken 'thinking outside the box' to a whole new level.  She has connected with the household staple company we all know and love, KitchenAid to turn your practical kitchen appliances into jaw-dropping pieces of art. From sassy fire and sultry pin-ups to sweet damask and soft prints, no design is off limits.  You're yet to see a kitchen conversation piece such as those air-brush painted by Nick.

Last Christmas I came to Nick with the idea of transforming both my mother & mother-in-law's mixers {no easy task to swipe away grandmas' mixers just before the holidays}.  I had each of my three children draw up their very best piece of art.  Each unique to his/her style, my little ones took immense pride in doing so.  Art pieces done, each wrote his/her name and finally a handprint.  Complete with swarovski crystal detailing, the KitchenAid mixers {which both sit displayed proudly atop each grandmother's countertop} speak for themselves!

  


Nicole is now creating pieces for music moguls & red-carpet regulars alike, and her work frequents gift bags for celebs at shows as big as The Oscars.  We're so proud to call Nicole a friend and a fellow local business proprietress.  She indeed has talent beyond measure!  Congratulations Nicole for taking the ordinary and transforming it into extraordinary without a second thought.  Practicality doesn't have to be boring, and heck, if I'm not blasé, why do my appliances have to be.

Hi Friends!  Well, my oh my it’s been some time since our last blogging experience. To say that we’ve been busy at Bee Bops is an understatement.  I’m spending more time focusing on all the lovely little details of running the shop {and keeping our wonderfully loyal customers happy}.  Aside from the ins & outs of keeping the shop running smoothly I have committed myself to diving {headfirst} into motherhood with no regrets.  With my active 5, 7 & 9 year olds, life is never dull and is FULLY embraced in the Evans’ household.  Having said that, thank you for your patience as my blogging about Bee Bops has {ahem} been lacking.  That’s not to say that there isn’t OOOOdles going on here at Bee Bops & Lollipops. . . .

This last season we had a huge LivingSocial promotion that brought so many fun and friendly faces into the shop.  We built gobs of great relationships and gained some pretty fantastic new customers.  Thanks to all of you who participated in the deal!

In September we had a HUGE blowout for our Anniversary celebration.  It was the best party yet and we were all absolutely giddy at how the night turned out!  The photobooth was a hoot {thanks to TraLa Studios aka Heather Lynn Photographie}.  The sassy little pop-rocks drinks with glitter lips & stached straws & cotton candy cupcakes were yuuummz but it was the shopping and gabbing that was the most fun.  Much thanks to all who came out for the celebration.  And HUGE thanks to all the incredible companies who participated with us to hand out the most outrageous loot bags.  THANK YOU!

 And then, of course, there's the GOBS & GOBS of kiddos who trek down to our shop for Halloween celebratory CANDY!  Of course, Heather and I had to represent the best we could.  We handed out over 600 pieces of candy.  One of our favorite events of the year.  Always such fun seeing all the dolled up princesses & fairies and creepy gouls & goblins!

 And in October we stayed solid within the top five again this year as Western Washington's BEST {in Children's Clothing}. Thank you to all our lovely and loyal fans who voted.  Such a HUGE honor!

We also hooked up with some AMAZING new lines this past season.  To name just a few. . .Hatley, First Cleats, Rock Star Baby, Urban Sunday, Episencial, Trumpette, KidO, Emie Grace, the Dwell Layette collection & MORE!  And this Spring we’re expecting some over-the-top goodies from some great new lines including Lilly B., Aspen Baby & more {some fun surprises to come!}. And of course we’re expecting some off-the-charts fabulosity from our friends and constants {Knuckleheads & Hula Mula, Red Snapper, Mudpie, Mudpuppy, & Rockabye Baby.  Spring is my favorite time of year at the shop because it brings so many great new finds. Stay tuned. . .we’ll announce as the goodies arrive!
